Jason Ploen
FAMILY: I married once, to Maureen for almost 40 years now. We don’t have any kids, but do have lots of nieces, nephews and a Jack Russell Terrier.
OCCUPATION: I went on active duty in the Army after graduating college and served 29 years as a Military Intelligence officer retiring as Colonel. The Army was good to me and sent me to graduate school three times. I currently work part time repairing the aircraft at the flight school where I learned to fly on Kent Island, Maryland.
FAVORITE HIGH SCHOOL MEMORIES: Hiking with friends at Mt. Charleston and learning to sail on Lake Mead.
HOW I LIKE TO SPEND MY TIME: I still like to hike, cycle and run. Occasionally I get a chance to cross country ski or scuba dive. I got my Private Pilot certificate 5 years ago and love to fly when the weather’s nice. We have traveled good deal, often on a 120 passenger sailing ship.
FUN TIDBIT(S) ABOUT ME: You move a lot in military; they moved me 22 times including Germany and Korea. I’m teaching myself how to weld with the help of YouTube and a friend at work. Just visited my 99 year old dad Rex.
HIGHLIGHTS OF MY LIFE SINCE HIGH SCHOOL: My marriage to Maureen was the best thing that ever happened to me. My favorite Army assignment was command of a Battalion.
